DEFECTIVE HOME ENTERTAINMENT CENTERRecently on my visit to Kelowna, B.C., I was in Craven's Discount Center and purchased a home entertainment center, model number PAM 78 (see inclosed invoice #C7214). I had seen it at my friends house I was staying at and was very impressed by its vibrant sound and sleek appearence. When I had arrived at your store I was very impressed with the service I was given and the helpful advise offered. Unfortunatly, when I had arrived back home and set up the unit, the tape deck was broken. I had phoned the friend that had recomended the store to me because he has the same model (PAM 78). He assured me that he has not had any problems what so ever with his unit, but had suggested that since it was a floor model it might have some wear and tear. When I had purchased the unit, I had checked it and it seemed to work fine. Also, it was checked by your staff prior to me purchasing it. Since I live in Toronto, I had not removed any pieces from the box until I had gotten home. After returning home, I read the manual and pieced the units together. When I tried the tape deck, it did not work. I phoned Vicom's head office in Korea to ask if any authorized repair shops where in my area, whick their were none, so I brought it to a local shop called Modern TV and Radio at 289 Dufferine Street. The repairman at Modern TV and Radio located the problem and told me that one of the PCB boards was replaced and improperly installed (inclosed is defective PCB Board). He knew this because the defective PCB board had Craven stamped on. The gentleman at Modern TV and Radio replaced the PCB board and charged me $53.00 (see inclosed invoice #2656). Please be aware that, even though the unit is under warrenty, their were not any authorized repair shops in my area and the cost of shipping the unit would be greater than the repair costs. I hope that you will be able to reinburse me the cost of rapairing the unit, either by cheque or money order payable to the above address. |
