E COMMERCE IN BRAZILE-commerce is not just buying and selling products on the web, but it includes lawyers giving legal advice on the web, consumers buying grocery on the Internet, colleges offering online courses etc. With 170 million people and more than 10 million computers, five times the number in use 5 years ago, Brazil is the most promising Internet and e-commerce market in Latin America (Source: New York Times). Morgan Stanley Dean Witter predicted that Brazil would represent about one-third on the total South American market by 2005. Since the privatization of the telecommunications sector and the large educated young population sp\read over a large geographical area, Brazil has become the prime candidate for e-commerce growth. It is also believed that the common culture, languages, history, economies shared by the South American countries makes web commerce/e-commerce a sure path to success. Certain countries in South America like Argentina, Brazil etc. are leading their way in e-commerce but other smaller countries are following the heavy weights as we speak. If we compare E-commerce in Brazil and e-commerce in USA, we find variations. Right now We can say that the USA web business at a point where they command a considerable portion of the total business in the country even though only a few dot-com companies are actually earning profit like Yahoo!.
